Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing,
implementing, and overseeing the company’s environmental health and safety
programs. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, promotes
a culture of safety, and minimizes the company’s environmental impact. The EHS
Manager works closely with all levels of staff to provide guidance and support on
health and safety issues.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and
procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe working
environment. - Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS
regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies. - Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and
implement corrective actions. - Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including
orientation, safety meetings, and ongoing education. - Lead investigations of workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses.
Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent
recurrence. - Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Conduct
regular drills and ensure all employees are trained in emergency protocols. - Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and senior
management. Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and
training activities. - Oversee environmental programs, including waste management, pollution
prevention, and sustainability initiatives. - Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization, encouraging
employee involvement and accountability in EHS practices. - Identify and implement best practices for continuous improvement in EHS
performance
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and
Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. A Master’s degree is
preferred. - At least 5-7 years of experience in EHS management, with a proven track
record of successful program implementation and regulatory compliance. - Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in EHS management software and tools.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional
teams. - Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or
equivalent certification is preferred.
