A One-stop Shop for THM Removal

Turnkey solutions to ensure Stage 2 DBP regulatory compliance for Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs).

Challenges

Compliance takes time and resources. Deploying solutions in the water distribution system to reduce Disinfection Byproduct (DBP) levels is significantly faster and cheaper than making changes to the upstream processes in the water treatment plant.

USG installs and services Trihalomethane Removal Systems (TRS systems) that provide THM removal from water in storage tanks and reservoirs to help operators achieve cost-effective regulatory compliance.

Our Solution

USG TRS is a custom-designed, in-tank THM removal aeration system that optimizes trihalomethane removal in potable water tanks and reservoirs to assist with Stage 1 and Stage 2 DBP rule compliance for municipalities.

How We Do It

We combine multiple THM removal technologies (spray aeration, surface aeration, mixing, and ventilation) that we incorporate into our proprietary design and performance modeling software to create custom-designed, turnkey water storage tank aeration systems that are cost and energy-optimized.

Unlike other aeration systems, our TRS is customized for each tank and for each tank’s operating conditions to maximize the effectiveness of the trihalomethane removal system while minimizing cost.

To maintain the long-term efficiency of the system once installed, USG provides a proactive asset management program. The program includes a full warranty on the equipment (mixer, power vent, and aerator) during the life of the agreement, as well as a yearly inspection and testing of the TRS system. Our experienced field crews will also do a yearly start-up of the system if winterization is included in the contract.
